Procedure
Follow these steps to safely remove a LUN (Logical Unit Number) from your iSCSI storage environment.
Step 1: Disable the iSCSI Target
This step ensures that no connections are active while modifying the LUN.
- Open an application named "iSCSI and Fiber Channel".
- Go to iSCSI Storage.
- Find the target that the LUN is associated with.
- Click Action > Disable.
- A warning will pop up about interrupting active connections. Click OK to confirm.
- The target status should now show as Disabled.
Step 2: Unmap the LUN
This removes the LUN from the currently mapped target without deleting it.
- Click Action > Edit LUN Mapping.
- In the pop-up window, select Unmap for the desired LUN.
- Click OK.
- The LUN will now be listed under Unmapped LUNs.
Step 3: Delete the LUN
Only perform this if you are sure you no longer need the data on the LUN.
- Select the LUN (e.g., LUN_0) from the list.
- Click Action > Delete.
- Click Apply to confirm the deletion.
Step 4: Final Confirmation
Once the above steps are complete, the LUN will be permanently removed from the system.
