After joining an Active Directory domain, why are domain usernames truncated in the QES UI?

最后修订日期: 2022-10-05

QES uses Samba to connect to and retrieve usernames from Active Directory domain servers. Samba limits the maximum length of Active Directory usernames to 20 characters in order to maintain compatibility with older (pre-Windows 2000) Windows systems.

The screenshot below shows the properties of a Windows user account. The user’s full username and domain is highlighted in blue. The truncated username and domain that Samba retrieves is in red.
