What should i do if seeing the warning "Storage pool is nearly full"
Applicable Products:
- Storage & Snapshots
"Storage pool is nearly full" means the usage of storage pool reaches the threshold settings.
If the warning happens right after creating the thick volume, and you haven't started or only put a few files into the volume, the reason is probably the threshold setting is set too low and you are creating a thick volume to fully use the storage pool space (for example: the threshold is set to 80%, and you create a 3TB thick volume on a 3TB storage pool). You may set up a higher threshold setting close to 100% usage.
If the warning happens after using the NAS for a long while, use following methods to release the pool space.
- Regarding snapshots in the storage pool, perform deleting the old snapshots.
- Regarding thick volumes in the storage pool, perform shrinking the thick volumes if there is plenty of volume space free or converting thick volume to thin volume to release unused space.
- Regarding thin volumes in the storage pool, perform deleting old files in the volumes and run space reclaim to relaim the space of the deleted files.
- If the space is still not enough, you can expand the pool space by adding the disks.
