How do I know if my QNAP NAS model is a legacy model?

Or you can follow the procedures below to determine the NAS model type

  1. Login to the NAS via SSH.
  2. Run [~] # ls /sbin/hal_app
  • If the NAS is a legacy model, the output is

    [~] # ls /sbin/hal_app
    ls: /sbin/hal_app: No such file or directory
  • If the NAS is a HAL model,the output is

    [~] # ls /sbin/hal_app
    /sbin/hal_app*
