Firmware Auto-Update: What do you consider to be the "Recommended version"
Applied Products:
-
All NAS Series
-
QTS Firmware Versions 4.5.3 and later versions
Question:
A user applied Auto-Update to the device when it was first available (for example firmware version 4.5.3.1652), but for the last two weekends, the unit hasn't performed an update to the latest version (for example 4.5.3.1670). The user has "Recommended version" ticked/enabled, rather than "Latest version", but what is considered to be the "Recommended version” if the latest version includes security fixes, as mentioned in the release notes?

Answer:
The firmware “Recommended version” includes accumulated fixes from several previous versions or an emergency security patched version.
The recommended firmware version will be launched and tagged after review by our support and security team.
There will be a tag on the selected version release note.
Since 4.5.3.1670 is not picked as a “Recommended version” by our team, the "Latest version" option can be selected/enabled instead if you just want to upgrade the latest firmware every time.
