How do I pair my home folder in Qsync?
Applicable Products
- QuTS hero
- QTS 4.4.1 or above
- Qsync Central
Details
Home folders cannot be paired in Qsync. The currently logged in user's home folder is the folder homes/{username}, but a special shared folder called home is created by the system that always links to the home folder of the currently logged in user. Neither home nor homes/{username} can be paired with local folders via Qsync. To view all the shared folders on the NAS that can be synced via Qsync, go to Qsync Client > Shared Folders:
Workaround
A home folder cannot be paired via Qsync, you can create a shared folder whose path is your home folder, then the files inside of your home folder can be paired via this shared folder. To do this perform the following steps:
- Create a shared folder whose path is your home folder
- Log in to QTS as an administrator.
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Privilege > Shared Folders > Shared Folder tab.
- Click Create.
A dropdown action menu appears. - Click Shared Folder.
The Create A Shared Folder window appears.
- Specify a name for the shared folder.
- Under Path, select Enter path manually.
- Under Path > Enter path manually, select the path of your home folder.
- Click Next.
The Configure access privilege for users page appears. - Optional: Configure access privileges for users.
- Click Next.
The Properties page appears. - Optional: Configure additional properties for the paired folder.
- Click Finish.
A confirmation window appears. - Click Ok.
The shared folder is created.
- Open Qysnc Client.
- Pair the shared folder above with a local folder. For details, see Adding a NAS and Paired Folders from Qsync Client in the tutorial How to use Qsync to synchronize files between the NAS and my other devices?
