The volume snapshots and Virtualization Station Snapshots are all point-in-time copies of the data.
The differences are what they records, the Volume snapshot records the an existing volume's data and the Virtualization Station snapshot preserves the state (for instance, power state) and data (disks, memory, and other devices, such as virtual network interface cards.) of a virtual machine.
