Scenario
When using USB JBOD enclosures such as TR-002 or TR-004 in a QuTS hero high-availability (HA) cluster, you may encounter an issue where disks on the JBOD enclosures are not listed during storage pool creation. This can happen if you created RAID groups on the JBOD enclosures after the HA cluster had already been created.
Root Cause
After creating the HA cluster, any RAID groups you create on TR-series JBOD enclosures will not be synchronized from the active node to the passive node. As a result, the passive node lacks the corresponding virtual disk configuration, causing the system to fail to list the JBOD disks during pool creation.
Solution
To ensure disks on your TR-series JBOD enclosures are usable in an HA cluster, you must create RAID groups on the JBOD enclosures before creating the HA cluster.
- If you have already created the HA cluster, remove the cluster.
For details, see Removing an HA cluster. - Connect identical TR-series JBOD enclosures to both nodes.
- Ensure the JBOD enclosures are in Software Control mode.
Note
Software Control mode is the default factory setting.

- Use External Storage Device Management to create identical RAID groups on the JBOD enclosures connected to both nodes.
The RAID groups on both nodes must use the same RAID type, contain the same number of disks, and use disks of matching capacities.
Note
You can access External Storage Device Management by going to Storage Manager > External Storage.
- Create the HA cluster using High Availability Manager.

The Create Storage Pool wizard should now detect the disks on both JBOD enclosures.
